What's the 'Next Big Thing' in the Copper Age?

Postby MR-SigS » Fri Dec 05, 2014 6:39 pm

As we all have seen, film and television hype has lead to a number of leaps in value for books otherwise ignored. Sometimes it's pretty cool, sometimes silly- I guess it depends upon whether you have the book in question or not

Will the value hold? Will it fold? Is the hype justified, or is it just another "flavor of the month"?

Post what you have that's currently making noise in the marketplace. Or post what you think may soon be the Next Big Thing.

And it doesn't have to be film/tv hyped books- Anything from the Copper Age causing a stir is welcome here.

That series really had some solid stories. In capable creative hands, it could be a big hit.

Do tell! I see Bob Layton was involved- Is it because of the stories, or because this is the kind of thing "heat seekers" look for?
I haven't heard of any movie deals

I think Suicide Squad #1 is poised to blow up, is it that common a book that it's not skyrocketing already? It's a great cover regardless.

I think most people have been focusing on the 1st appearance of the new S.S. team, but the series debut may get its day (in 9.8+).

I was looking at Silver Surfer #44's activity on GPA. The 9.6 grade has 24 listed sales this year with a low of $108 and a high of $400. The next highest listed sale is $200!

That is speculating  I often wish I could know the circumstances around such sales- A 9.6 copy of this book is not a difficult thing to locate, so it automatically leads me to suspect a novice bought it, but it could be other factors such as it being a PERFECTLY centered newsstand, or something like that.

Congrats to that seller.
