Oh, no doubt, as I've stated before....Ditko was the classic ASM artist, as where Romita was the definitive ASM artist. ESPECIALLY concerning Spidey's supporting cast. Romita gave everybody their own visual uniqueness. And he did it with love and passion,... with emphasis on Gwen.

Not art related, but this is exactly what I don't like about Romita's run on ASM - he turned it into a romance comic.

Superheroes need lovin' too. :-D

Ever read The Boys spin-off title mini-series called Herogasm?

I've heard of that title. I just checked the covers in your link... :thumbsup2:

Oh yeah, friggin' crazy. If anyone (in general) is easily offended, I'd advise they just stay away from anything Garth Ennis ever wrote  Only "safe" titles I can think of would be Hitman or Demon because they're in regular DC continuity, but they are offensive in their own way even without the sex and drugs :rockout:

SWEET! #6 is going on my "Surrounded" want list. I notice the covers tamed down a bit after the first two. Were they catching heat and told to keep all that between the covers?

Not that I know of. They had a lot of freedom, as you can tell, so I'm not sure why the covers might be toned down (I never noticed that either). The Boys originally started as a DC (Wildstorm) book, but DC said "Oh man, this is too much for us. We'll let you take the whole thing to another publisher" and they went to Dynamite. I never heard Garth bitch about Dynamite censoring him at all.

One thing that might have influenced the covers is that the first couple issues don't even really have The Boys in it, it's mostly just a spotlight on the goverment heroes' debauchery. Garth wanted to show how corrupt the heroes and government really were so maybe the covers shifted as The Boys became more involved in the storyline.

Plus, if you know the storyline that led to this mini, you might find the covers a little more shocking. I'm thinking of issue #4, which doesn't look bad on it's own, but in context as a Boys reader, you see that cover and say "oh shit, this is going to be bad". It has to do with the way 9/11 occurred in The Boys universe  , and it's friggin' crazy.

Jeez, that's a lot of text for a simple question lol

It was a very informative answer and may have diagnosed the shift in the cover's artwork coinciding with the storyline. I haven't read it but it makes perfect sense. I had the same thoughts as Scott regarding the cover's shift after issue #2.

The 2nd cover showed a lot of snort. Did this guy really do all of it?

That's a great group of ACG books you've got there.

Thanks. It's the only ACG book in my collection where I have a reading copy and a HG copy.
