Graders specialize by era?

This I don't quite get. Grading is grading. You either know what you're doing or you don't. We collectors grade across all continuums. Why can't a professional?

Here's Dice's post from above:

"We need someone who knows the modern books. Given the sheer number of prints, reprints, threeprints, variants, subvariants, rare variants, super rare variants, rare variant reprints, and so on and so on, we need someone who knows them, keeps up with them, and loves them."

Also, CGC has the same thing. Check CGC's "Meet the Graders" page, they have people who specialize in different areas, one guy is a Modern expert, another guy in a Charlton expert, etc.

Why are some comic collectors so proud to have fake OCD? Is it cool to pretend to be mentally ill?

Take a look at Borock's ponytail and it''s obvious - he loves one of the worst bands in the history of music - the Grateful Dead. I don't know whose head I would blow off if I was forced to listen to them while grading, mine or Borock's

Oh wow, you were serious? Hmm, first, would I have to move to FL?

I am not a specialist in any comics, really. I did collect X-Men for almost 30 years though. I thought this might just be a data entry job.

Hmm... resume, I need to make a resume...

I'd be interested, except for the parts of:
Long hours
Moving to Florida
Having to quit buying and selling comics - particularly CBCS graded comics

So I think I'll stick with what I'm doing. But I do hope you get more staff on board AND get those modern and consumer tiers TAT under control.

I don't buy comics anymore, and I wouldn't need to sell them with a real job.

Moving... might be a problem, unless they help with finding a place.

Long hours? I have literally YEARS of not working, I can make it up.

Living up to expectations is always the difficult part.
