My grandson would probably love it- I'll wait until it drops to common again.

Do the young readers like this? I think that's who they're trying to attract with this re-hash of classic characters.
Not for us old fogies.

I honestly wonder if they care? I mean young readers AND Marvel. It's all about hyping a tired idea and let the speculation take over.

I read it's supposed to have around a 23k print run. Take that with a grain of salt, but even if that's half or a third, I think if it's hyped "correctly", it's low enough to sell well in terms of copies printed/copies sold. Then Marvel says, "It's a HIT!!"

Step 2. Second Printing. Speculation takes off!

Step 3. Third Printing. Rinse, repeat as long as they sell.

I should mention I don't mind multiple printings at all as long as the work is quality.

I think you're probably right. I'm sure if I were ten or twelve and relatively new to the tights & capes genre I'd be more receptive to this kind of thing.

I will say that if the stories are well written then I think the creators can pretty much do anything to the characters(...to a point). I know a lot of fans rolled their eyes when Ms. Marvel became a 15 year old Muslim girl, but I've enjoyed the writing on that title. Also, I figure Marvel's generally not going to create any new characters from scratch, so a reworking or reinvention of the old characters is all we can expect.

So Marvel created a human version of Doomsday? How original.
