Re: Crossovers Anyone?

You're the first collector that I've heard of who focuses on inter company crossovers. Why not post your list of crossovers here. I for one would be interested to see it.

Re: Do ya doodle?

If you're referring to the last post, those were done by my, dare I say, Mentor, Mike Royer. He does take commissions from time to time, but they're not priced for the casual collector (not to assume anything about your income). If you are indeed referring to my work earlier in the thread, thank yo...

Re: I love joeypost

Hi Joey. I imagine you've experimented on many different types of bends and waves. Assuming moisture wasn't involved and the bends are due to poor storage, what kind of success have you had with books like these ? You guys ever see these books? http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ub...

Re: CGC is HAMMERING grades

The TOS # 39 grade isn't a big surprise to me, it's just another in a long line of occasional gift grades. The ASM # 29 story though is something that shouldn't happen (not that I think over grading should happen but you know what I mean).

Re: CGC is HAMMERING grades

There have been plenty of stories of books not going up in grade after a press and even some going down after. Impossible to know how often that happens though.

Re: CGC is HAMMERING grades

Our experiences seem to differ. The Captain Britain # 8 that I mentioned just came back and was as far overgraded as any book that I've had from them, four grading points away from where I and other experienced graders believed it should be. I have books at CGC at the moment as well as books at CBCS...

Re: CGC is HAMMERING grades

CGC aren't hammering grades, their grading is so loose that it's getting beyond a joke. The last time I ever sent in a book that came back lower than expected was about five years ago. The only question these days is just how overgraded are books going to come back from them because consistency is o...

Re: Anyone here buy books off Facebook pages?

I've just started buying and selling comics on Facebook and so far it has been a very successful and pleasant experience. Obviously people need to use their better judgement on whether someone appears to be good to deal with.

Re: Superior Iron Man

I think you're right in that regular readers often like to see the status quo maintained and hate it when things go astray from what they're used to. Iron Man is one of the characters that I think they've really struggled to give interesting comic story lines to over the years so the new direction s...

Re: X-Men Days of Future Past

I think that Liev Schreiber's performance as Sabretooth in the first Wolverine film really made it better than it could've been. Jackman put in a solid performance but some other members of the cast were fairly uninspiring and I don't know what the hell they were thinking with Deadpool.

Re: X-Men Days of Future Past

Although not THE SENTINELS we are commonly familiar with, I still liked what Singer delivered to make this an even better movie than I expected. And I did break down and purchased the DVD because it ended up being $5 from Sears due to purchase points. I have watched the movie twice now. My favorite...

Re: De-Pressing

So if the hobby is damaged,... then pressers, 3rd party graders, AND collectors, are all to blame! Now some may argue the point, "well I'm a collector and I don't press my books so I didn't damage the hobby!" Well, that's fine. But we all know there are many many collectors and some even ...

Re: De-Pressing

CGC's trimming detection methods aren't 100% yet they are happy to give it their best opinion. I believe that if CGC had thought of pressing as a bad thing rather than the boost to their business that it is then they would've been trying to detect it and after all this time would've probably found w...

Re: De-Pressing

I've heard people say that books do revert from pressing after a time. Having an active dislike for pressing, I've never had any books pressed to witness this myself. I know that Bomber Bob on the CGC boards has mentioned it before. The thing is, what is the point in having a book encapsulated as a ...

Thanks for making and posting the video, Jason. Very informative, I've cracked out several CGC slabs but have yet to handle a CBCS one. I've got my first submission in at the moment and I'm looking forward to seeing the difference with my own eyes.

I really enjoyed DOFP. I think that First Class and X2 were probably slightly higher on my favourite list though.
