I don't think I own a recent CBCS slab, so I'm not sure.

Re: CBCS Scuttlebutt- How are things?

I was kinda surprised his reply sounded as if no one should be concerned about their book shifting that much.

Re: A Warm Welcome and Introduction

Welcome to The CBF, George! Yes, times have changed for the better with the help of the Marvel Films- These days I don't mind being seen in or coming out of a comic store, but I try not to let anyone see me bring comics into my home because, unlike when I was a kid in the 70's, comics are recognized...

Damn, that commission is cool as hell!
I have zero selling experience outside the CGC forum. And I wish wish wish I could take that art.

He was describing it as 4.0/VF, or was he saying "VF" and you thought more 4.0?

Re: ASM #300 4.0/VF

Can you share a pic? Crazy how low grades are fetching these prices. It seems whatever is going on with the character these days in comics is enough to fuel the flames, and that the movie doesn't seem to be as much a factor in the price hikes like they usually are. That's good, because the movie loo...

Re: ASM #300 4.0/VF

"4.0/VF"?? Is it raw or graded? For slabs, I use GoCollect (CGC & CBCS)- $5.99 p/month Another choice for CGC is GPAnalysis $9.99 p/month For raw books, I usually use Watchcount.com, but at the moment that site has a 403 error. Only a CGC 4.0 has been recorded as sold recently for $175...

Re: THIS WEEK IN YOUR COLLECTION

I purchased these 20"x16" pages from Mike Royer. They're an unpublished short story (1978) that Marvel reported "lost", then some time later "found" and returned to him. It was most likely designated for the Marvel Preview magazine (1975-1980). https://i.imgur.com/Sq9jd...

Re: It's Your Friendly Neighborhood Singaporean!

Very happy to 'meet' you! I'm also a Spidey can, but I stopped reading his titles (and pretty much all titles) around issue 375. When I returned to the hobby 10 years ago, I really didn't care for the product Marvel was putting out, and decided to stick with the comics and eras that I liked. Hope yo...

Re: Secret Wars #8

Correct, SW #8 is simply the origin of the symboite. ASM 252 & MTU 141 are the 1st appearances of the suit (though I believe ASM 252 actually came out like a week or two before MTU 141), Web of Spider-Man #18 is the 1st very minor appearance, or hinting, at Venom as it has a mysterious hand shov...

It was a decent store that I wouldn't mind visiting when there aren't so many people. Of course there wouldn't be any or many discounts.

Re: THIS WEEK IN YOUR COLLECTION

The store hosting the Ron Lim signing had a line for the the free comics going outside and stretching around the building. No thanks.
Instead I spent time going through their 50% off back issues.

Re: THIS WEEK IN YOUR COLLECTION

I brought some of my OO Silver Surfers for Ron Lim to sign (mostly slash page except #75 and The Vault). I often bought an issue from the rack even though I had a pull list at the time, and I just brought the better looking of the two. I strongly considered bring my Thanos Quest books, but they real...

Re: THIS WEEK IN YOUR COLLECTION

The very first marketed superhero item by Mike Royer, 1968. I'm going to have him sign it in such a way that his sig will be part of the puzzle, but I may want to have it lacquered first in case the lacquer screws up the sig. That's sunlight on the right. https://i.imgur.com/i8ZIEUv.jpg

Commissions are going to be $200 this year. I'll have to see examples before I make that decision. Store opens at 10 am and it appears that's when the signing starts.

I must say it is hilarious to see CBCS "fans" gripe about their latest CGC returns (because they KNOW what they grade should be), followed by their hopes that their NEXT batch from CGC will be better.

Re: Mini-Comics. Yay or Nay?

I don't mind mini comics. Much easier to hold. But will the lettering also be scaled down, or will it appear normal? I guess what I'm asking, will the original art be produced like it would if intended for standard size printing, then reduced for the mini size?
